3. Cookies as well as third-party services and content
We use cookies when operating our Websites. Cookies are small text files that are automatically created by your Internet browser and stored on your end device (computer, laptop, tablet, smartphone, etc.), provided that the cookies are technically necessary or have been authorized by you. The cookies caused by our Websites do not cause any damage to your end device, in particular they do not contain viruses, Trojans or other malware.
Furthermore, we integrate third-party services into our Websites, which may themselves generate cookies or initiate other data processing.
However, these third-party services are only activated if you consent to their use in advance. This is done by means of a consent tool, which we describe below.
3.1 Consent tool
When you visit www.starmicronics.de or a sub-page thereof, a consent tool (hereinafter referred to as “Consent Tool“) will appear at the bottom of the respective page informing you about the use of cookies and the possible use of third-party services.
There, you can also individually activate the third-party services integrated in www.starmicronics.de.
Once you have made and confirmed your selection, a fingerprint graphic remains visible in the lower left area of the website www.starmicronics.de and its subpages. If you click on this graphic, the Consent Tool opens again, and you can change your previously made selection – and thus revoke your consent to the use of optional cookies / services. This revocation does not affect the data processing carried out until then in accordance with your previous selection.
3.2 Particular cookies
Our Websites generate the following technically necessary cookies when you visit them:
(a) A cookie called dp_cookieconsent_status.
This cookie stores the selection you have made in the Consent Tool (see section 3.1 above of this Privacy Policy). The cookie and its content are automatically deleted after 364 days from the respective selection made by you, unless you delete the cookie manually in your browser settings earlier.
The legal basis for the use of this cookie is Article 6 Subsection (1) Sentence 1 (f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is to inform you when you visit our Websites about the cookie or service categories implemented in our Websites and to give you the opportunity to consent to individual services as required by law.
(b) If you visit the website www.ncfox.de from www.starmicronics.de or directly, the website www.ncfox.de sets a cookie called “PHPSESSID”.
This cookie is a session cookie and contains a so-called “session ID”; a session ID is an identifier that enables the website www.ncfox.de to assign certain requests that you make on www.ncfox.de during your visit to your respective Internet browser session. The session cookie does not collect any data from your end device.
The session cookie and its contents are automatically deleted as soon as you close your Internet browser.
The session cookie is used to enable the following technical functions on www.ncfox.de:
- On the website www.ncfox.de, visitors have the opportunity to request a demo version of our NC-Fox software in the download section there (see in detail above in section 2.4 of this Privacy Policy); furthermore, registered customers have the opportunity to download updates, drivers and macros of NC-Fox there. The session cookie makes it possible to assign the request for a trial version of NC-Fox or downloads of updates, drivers and macros of NC-Fox to the Internet browser session of the requesting visitor.
- The website www.ncfox.de provides a contact form for your inquiries. When using this contact form, we use a so-called “CAPTCHA” to check whether the sender submitting a message to us via the contact form is a human being. This prevents us from receiving automated requests from computers which may delay the processing of real requests to the contact form and, under certain circumstances, affect the functioning of our Websites. “CAPTCHA” stands for “completely automated public Turing test to tell computers and humans apart”. The session cookie enables the assignment of this test and its result to the Internet browser session of the requesting visitor.
The legal basis for the use of the session cookie on www.ncfox.de is Article 6 Subsection (1) Sentence 1 (f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest here lies in the following circumstances:
- Our need, in the context of providing the contact form on www.ncfox.de, to prevent machine requests to the contact form in order to process real requests made via the contact form more quickly and prevent interference with the operation of our Websites;
- Our need to (i) allow visitors to www.ncfox.de to request a demo version of our software NC-Fox in the download section there, and (ii) allow our NC-Fox customers to download updates, drivers and macros of NC-Fox there.
To the extent third-party services integrated by us into our Websites use cookies, you will find more detailed information on this below in Section 3.3 of this Privacy Policy.
In the settings of your Internet browser, you can generally block the acceptance of cookies and thus their storage on the relevant end device. Please refer to the user manual of your internet browser to find out how this works in detail. Please note that if you block all cookies, you will not be able to use the Consent Tool, request a demo version of our NC-Fox software at www.ncfox.de or download updates, drivers or macros for NC-Fox there.
In most Internet browsers, you can also specifically block cookies that are not set by our Websites themselves, but by third-party services (so-called “third-party cookies”). Please refer to the instructions for the relevant Internet browser for details on how this works.
